EAT DINNER HERE. The service was wonderful. It’s such a homey place and Ann and Blyth are so accommodating. They helped us plan things to do in the area. The food however, was even better. My family had dinner there both nights, and it was the best two meals I’ve ever had – it’s 3 courses of pure bliss!”

Found this gem by chance and what a find it turned out to be. Ann and Blyth were the perfect hosts nothing was too much trouble from the first cup of tea on arrival to the breakfast that was individually cooked for each guest. The rooms were spotless and had everything you could need – they were as good as most 5 star hotels. Ours had a spa bath with all the toiletries you would need and a good size walk in shower. The guest lounge was very comfortable with tea and coffee etc. available at any time. Outside there was a swimming pool and hot tub all set in a beautiful rural setting. As it only takes 8 guests early booking is a must it is certainly on our list for a return visit.”

What a hospitable welcoming couple, thoroughly enjoyed our five night stay. Beds extremely comfy, fresh towels daily, lovely room with access straight on to the terrace and garden. Coco, the chocolate lab, made friends. Superb breakfast with all you could wish for, fresh and poached fruit, cereals, yogourts, cold meats and cheeses or a cooked meal, croissants. Dinner was even better – three courses cooked to perfection. Ann and Blyth were so helpful in making dinner bookings or fishing arrangements and had a wealth of knowledge about the area. We even had our washing done! Many thanks to you both for making our stay so successful.”

My husband and I spent a wonderful night here, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left we felt welcomed, cared for and valued as guests , nothing was too much trouble for our hosts Blyth and Ann, our evening meal was a stunning feast, the likes of which we didn’t again experience, our breakfast again a feast , our room was gorgeous, the grounds just delightful, well maintained with a view to die for and their gorgeous dog Coco, who I fell instantly in love with just topped off our delightful stay and the opportunity to share stories with other travellers added a wonderful element to our stay the night we were there without ever feeling obliged to mingle if we chose not to ! Highly recommended!”

We had a wonderful three-night stay at the Waiorau Homestead. The Cardrona Valley is a beautiful setting for this wonderful B and B. The house is lovely; great terrace, beautiful shared interior space, elegant and comfortable room. Ann and Blyth were warm, gracious, and friendly hosts. Blyth recommended some fun activities nearby (Cardrona Distillery, Cardrona Alpine Resort, Cardrona Hotel for a delightful pub meal). Yes, as someone else said, this is an “absolutely gorgeous” place to stay near Wanaka. (Oh yes, one last comment… we got a wonderful “puppy fix” meeting Coco the chocolate lab.)”

‘Welcome’ is the greeting at the entrance of your lovely house and indeed that’s how we felt during the entire period spent here. Your place is like heaven on earth! Thanks to your invaluable advice we made the most of our trip. Thank you kindly for all attention, we loved every minute here.”

We just wanted to sincerely thank you for the absolutely wonderful 3 days at your home. Everything was either beautiful, comfortable, or yummy!  The best was your warmth and generosity of heart.  Simply put,  you made this the best stay we’ve ever had anywhere.”

Thank you for everything you have done. You are two of the most remarkable people we have met, we will definitely recommend your place to our family and friends. Our experience in New Zealand was wonderful; staying at the Homestead was the best choice we made. Words cannot explain how well you have taken care of us. The Crown Range will forever be our extreme experience – even after sky diving and bungy jumping!”

Its been a buzz the last few days
Hard to describe in many ways
But to Ann and Blyth your home has style
You do it well – and always with a smile
From food and wine to friendly chat
We’ve had much fun – and you can’t beat that
But we’ll be back – just don’t know when
And until we do, thanks once again.”

A quick note to say thanks again for your warm hospitality & fine service at the “Beagle House” (as the kids now refer to the Homestead). I know we raved on while we were there “blobbing” but we just wanted to say again how lovely the homestead is, how welcome you made us feel & of course how absolutely delicious Blyth’s cooking was.  Hopefully we will be fortunate enough to be able to come & stay with you again one day soon. All the best to you & to the future of the Waiorau Homestead.”

“We stayed in 9 B&Bs and 2 motels during our 3 week stay in the South Island and after much weighing and consideration, this has got to be THE best B&B we stayed in, considering the location, spatial environment, the hosts personality, the food and the comfort. The offerings far exceed the price paid – so, great value indeed. Hosts Ann and Blyth have a beautiful home sited on a generous piece of land in Cardrona, with a dramatic tree-lined drive in that leads to a marvellously proportionate 1 storey house with a pool & poolhouse. The interiors are extremely tastefully decorated (Ann’s forte) and the bed was one of the most comfortable we slept in. We had arranged for the home-cooked meal by professional chef Blyth – that was really fun and an awesome experience, both for the cuisine and the interactions. We also loved getting to know the hosts’ children/grandchildren who were coming in for xmas. Many moments spent in the living room, reading and relaxing with a glass of wine. The external garden is amazing, and we had a great time exploring, walking and observing nature. Most of all Ann is an extremely relaxed and chill hostess who is quite happy to chat and talk, and all very genuine. We felt very relaxed and charmed by the environment and it was quite hard to leave. Thank you Ann and Blyth for a wonderful time. In our opinion, this should really be one of the most highly rated B&Bs in all of NZ’s South Island.”
