Wanaka has been voted one of the top ten wedding destinations in the world. The Waiorau Homestead is a romantic location, ideal for all weddings.

Our quiet rural retreat is set in 10 acres of mature gardens with a stream boundary and beautiful mountain views - the perfect private location for both small family gatherings as well as larger wedding groups. We can cater for small intimate weddings ( up to 20 ) inside the Homestead, and larger groups (150 plus) on the lawn.

Your Ideal Wedding Location

Waiorau Homestead is the ideal four-season wedding location - blossoms in spring; white winter wonderland; golden autumn leaves or stunning blue summer skies.

Should you prefer a lakeside or mountain top ceremony, we will be happy to help make your dreams a reality with helicopter access directly at the homestead.

Planning Your Wedding

We will be happy to assist with the organisation of the wedding party’s requirements for your big day, including sourcing suppliers for flowers, hairdressing, makeup, photography etc. Alternatively, we can work in with Wanaka’s excellent selection of local wedding planners to make your day perfect! The Homestead is also the perfect venue for pre- and post-wedding activities, including cocktail parties, pre-wedding family dinners and post wedding functions including BBQ's.

At the Homestead

On arrival at the Honeymoon Suite, you will be greeted with a complimentary bottle of Champagne, fresh flowers and chocolates, while your private bathroom will be stocked with luxurious bathrobes, candles and boutique bathroom products.

You have a choice of Honeymoon Suites:

The Harakeke King Room with private bathroom & spa-bath
The Kahurangi 0r Hukapapa Queen Rooms with ensuites
The Pool House Cabin with kitchen facilities, ensuite bathroom and direct access to the Hot Tub and Swimming Pool.

We offer you - the new bride and groom - a special gourmet breakfast either on your private terrace, beside the pool or in the Homestead’s private dining room.

The décor, fixtures and furnishings in all the rooms are of the highest standard. The Homestead also offers you a sophisticated yet comfortable Guest Lounge and Dining Room with library and entertainment suite. The Guest Lounge offers stunning views onto the mountains and surrounding Cardrona Valley.

Take in some romantic stargazing from the warmth of the outdoor Hot tub or seated in front of the outdoor fire.

Catering

Your host and resident chef, Blyth Adams, can cater for any gourmet dining experience. He uses only the best fresh local produce, including venison, lamb, beef, salmon and trout. We use vegetables, herbs and fruit grown organically in our extensive gardens.

There is a wide variety of activities on offer for honeymooners in the local area. We are situated close to Wanaka, and just 40 minutes from the “Adventure Capital of the World” – Queenstown. We would be delighted to make your bookings for you, and ensure this is a honeymoon to remember!
